More blogs from colleges

Some try to keep stealth but eventually they surface…

Here is a new blog from a college of mine, Carl Kenne, for the moment the focus is on WPF and Silverlight, go ahead an check it out.

Feedburner feed

flame2To make it easier to use other blog engines and change feed settings (and sell the last shred of my soul too Google). I started using the Feedburner service. The service gives me some more statistics as well, but that’s not the most important issue here.

I wanted to change the underlying engine for my site and, well it’s not the the first time but it’s annoying to force the users to update their readers just because I want to use another engine. So from now  on you can always use the Feedburner link to my feed.

Now if I only could handle all the cross links and URL rewriting as well…

How the web archive saved my post

I was looking through some of my old posts and fund that one of my old posts had been erased, Refactoring the agile manifesto. Probably in the last upgrade.

No problem I thought, I just have to recreate it from a backup. Huh? No backup? Ah well, my offline backup then. No? Well, it wasn't life threatening, just annoying.

I left it but suddenly a though struck me, remember the Wayback Machine also known as the Internet archive? It is still alive and I thought I should give it a shot. I was surprised to find some of my blog pages there and as I knew around what date I published the article I clicked the link.

Bam! There it was, so now the original post is back in my blog.

And while I'm at it, here is a few past web sites:

Now is the time

I will try to roll out the new blog site tomorrow. So there might be some down time. Remember, the new (or old) RSS link will be

http://blog.reis.se/SyndicationService.asmx/GetRss

I also created a light weight theme, hopw you like it. Its the first incarnation but I will continue to update it.

Time to move on

Well it's not as dramatic as it seems. A while back I was using dasBlog as blog engine and it worked well - until my web provider changed to .NET 2.0, but at the same time offered blog hosting with WordPress and I thought it was a good idea. But they don't even support a simple captcha so I'm flooded with spam comments.

Even if it’s just a few clicks to remove all comments it takes time and I can't just have all comments forwarded to my email. So not that dasBlog is up to fill .NET 2.0 support I thought it would be a good idea get back to my old engine. As an added bonus I will get Microsoft Live writer to work with this setup.

But that means a new RSS link for the RSS readers: http://blog.reis.se/SyndicationService.asmx/GetRss

I will try to get this up and running in about a week, and will give a notice a few days before I make the switch.

Mix here I come!

For the next few days you will find me at the Venetian Resort Hotel in Las Vegas. This is going to be good. ANd also on twitter, so you know exactly what I do...
